Sean Rowe
Marco Haber
It certainly isn't every day that you come across a duo capable of crafting a sound big and soulful enough so that even audiences in typically placid venues are moved to hoot, holler, dance and throw money. But this is precisely the sort of response and enthusiasm that is being elicited by MUDFUNK -- a two-piece funk and soul collaboration headquartered in Albany NY.
"Rowe has those resonant pipes, ornately groovy tunes and busy guitar work, while Haber has a uniquely Afro-Latin and Middle Eastern influenced style of hand drumming that makes one drum sound like, well, a bunch of drums." [Erik Hage - Metroland Magazine]

Born from a sequence of fortunate coincidences which came together in the late spring of 2004, MUDFUNK  actualizes  the  compositions  and
lyrics of Sean Rowe -- pairing his gravelly voice and vibrant guitar playing with the rich and unusual percussion work of Marco Haber. The result is a union which, although rooted in the traditions of funk and soul, sports tendrils which stretch outwards, taking listeners on a head bobbing, foot thumping and often eye closing journey beyond the conventional.
"The grainy, raspy voice of Sean Rowe combined with the impressive percussion work of Marco Haber give Mudfunk a totally different vibe ... If you truly love NEW music and artists that are pushing boundaries then you will love Mudfunk. Seriously, this is probably the most unique sound I've heard in many, many years. It's a throwback to an era that no longer exists in the music business. Thank you Mudfunk!" [Unsigned Music Magazine - March 2005]
Although still a relatively new collaboration, MUDFUNK has been on the bill with high profile acts such as Michael Glabicki (lead singer for Rusted Root) and legendary folk singer/songwriter Eric Andersen. The duo performed at the 2005 Motor City Music Conference in Detroit, Dewey Beach Pop Festival in Delaware and Block Island Music Festival in Rhode Island, and went on a fully-sponsored UK tour in October of 2005 (MUDFUNK and two other bands were chosen out of a pool that initially included more than a thousand applicants). On January 21, 2006, MUDFUNK released their debut album - 'Live at the Grind' and is now regularly performing at well-known listening venues throughout the Northeast.
